RLCS Winter Split
RLCS 2021-22 is the second RLCS season in 2021, crossing over into 2022. This season introduces the most major changes to the RLCS system yet with more regions and an updated format. 3 splits - Fall, Winter, Spring - each have 3 regional events leading into an international major. Within all these events, each team collects points that will determine whether they will qualify for the World Championship or World Championship Wildcard.
The RLCS 2021-22 Winter Split Major will take place in Los Angeles at the FACEIT Studio and the YouTube Theater.
RLCS Winter Major
The Rocket League Championship Series Winter Major saw 16 of the best teams from the split battle it out March 23rd to 27th in Los Angeles, California. We saw teams from all major regions qualify for this event but sadly due to current world events the players of Sandrock Gaming were unable to travel to the major.
The roster consisted of Ahmad, oKhaliD and trk511 and are considered the best team from the MENA region. These players have not lost a regional event in the entire Rocket League Championship Series 2021-2022 season. They also entered the Fall Split Major and managed to fight to a 5th place placement which is the highest of all minor region teams.
The Winter Major is split between a group and playoff stage with 12 teams surviving the groups portion. In this phase we saw Version1, FURIA Esports, G2 Esports and Spacestation Gaming remain undefeated. These 4 advanced to the winners side of the playoffs locking in a minimum top 8 placement. The other 8 teams were place into losers bracket to start the run for the gold.
After the dust settled and only 4 teams were left we got to see Spacestation Gaming and G2 Esports in winners finals and FaZe Clan and Team Queso in losers semi-finals. Team Queso has stunned everyone heading into the event after starting playoffs in losers bracket. The stage of was set for the grand finals where we saw G2 Esports representing the United States of America facing off against Team Queso of Europe.
Team Queso brought the series to game 7 and managed to send the series into another best of 7 to decide who will win it all. Despite the momentum that Team Quese had they fell 4-2 to G2 Esports in the grand finals. G2 Esports is your Rocket League Championship Series Winter Major Champions.
