An honest and down-to-earth conversation with the voice behind N.Ginner in Super Shooter!

When Dani first began her streaming journey on Twitch, she didn't expect to voice a character in an indie game that was recently released on Steam. The game is known as Super Shooter, "which is an all-new FPS game where players use an experimental tool to activate unique stage elements, solve puzzles, and propel themselves through the air ("rocket jumping"). In other words, it's a game where you solve all your problems by shooting at them!"- Steam. The game was released on February 3rd, 2021, and is available for $9.99 on Steam.

Dani says that voice acting has always been a dream of hers since she was younger. "I always wanted to be a part of video games. When I played Tomb Raider when I was a kid, that's when I knew I wanted to voice in a video game."

She was approached one day by the developers of an indie game and accepted the offer instantly. "I stream video games on Twitch... mostly indie games. I was approached by one of the devs asking if I was interested in voicing for his new game, Super Shooter. I didn't even hesitate and said hell ya."

Dani says that voicing this character was definitely a challenge for her but she was excited to go through with the challenges when it came to voicing this character.

"This was a character was a challenge for me. I'm used to doing lower voices, but this one was more high-pitched. Dan, the developer of the game, gave GREAT direction. It was such a fun challenge. I actually record in my room :) I have my own little setup, sometimes record with a sheet over my head."

The character that she plays helps guide the player through the game itself. She says that she enjoyed playing the character and relates highly to the character.

" The character is named N. Gineer. She guides the player through the game/puzzles to help find the power arm. One thing I loved about this character is there is no connection. I'm definitely not a brainiac like her, so it was fun to play one. She is a bit snarky and sarcastic, which I can relate to that much too."

Listed below are some future plans and goals that Dan has for this year

"I give myself yearly goals, last year I wanted to voice in 2 games. I achieved that, so this year I'd like to voice in 3. I'm actually working on a game myself, called I Wasn't Aware. I had to take a break from working on it due to real-life circumstances but I'm able to get back into it and I'm so excited to finish it this year."

Dani also hopes to make a difference in her community by discussing things such as mental health and other personal topics on stream, in order to create a safe space for her community. "I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and it consumed my mental health. I thought for so long I couldn't live a "normal" "happy" life with that. I've been in therapy for a few years now and it's helped me cope and function to the best I can. I want to discuss my struggles in hopes that someone out there doesn't feel alone or helpless the way I did for so long. I feel like we put such a stigma on mental health and are afraid to talk about it when it's in fact so normal. Our diagnoses don't define who we are. My community has always been as honest as I have. I don't put on a persona, a show... I don't care about being a twitch partner. I just want to give a safe place to those who feel alone."
