Six Invitational
The Six Invitational is the annual Rainbow Six Siege tournament organized by Ubisoft, the games publisher and developers. Many refer to this event as the "World Cup" of Rainbow Six Siege since the best 20 teams globally come together to battle it out for bragging rights and for a share of the 3 million dollar prize pool.
This years event was hosted in Stockholm following Ubisoft deciding against hosting in Canada like they have since the beginning. This decision was made due to many factors currently going on with the covid-19 pandemic. Despite all the challenges the best 100 players still put in their all during the main event that happened February 8th - 12th, 2022.
Six Invitational 2022
The list of teams that qualified for the Six Invitational included many of the most known names such as TSM, FaZe Clan and Team Liquid. Other names included in this event were Elevate and Team BDS. These teams represented not only themselves but also the nation they were playing under. We saw 5 teams from each major region including North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
The first stage of competition saw teams split into 4 groups of pool play. The lowest preforming team in each pool was eliminated while the remaining 16 advanced to a double elimination bracket. This stage kicked off with many upsets, both TSM and Soniqs manage to reach top 8 through winners after they finished outside of the top 2 in stage 1.
TSM kept their momentum going through championship Sunday as they faced Team Empire in both winners and grand finals. Even though they fell to Team Empire in winners they were able to bring it together and get the run back in grand finals. Once the dust settled TSM took down Team Empire 3-1 to raise the hammer and become the Six Invitational 2022 champions.
